Hi Mourad,
I certainly like the idea of being able to chat with people online or in person.

Also, do you think that there is the possibility that you/we could try and build a link with an English-language school (or the equivalent) somewhere in the middle east that we could exchange weekly emails with? That way, part of our e-learning classes could be you helping us to say, write to our e-pal using the words/topics we’ve been taught that week? Also, in the same way you’ve been using realia to help us, we could send photos of English street/shop signs etc. to help them?

I also think the idea of weekly emails could be good at first because there’s a lot less pressure to come up with an instant, coherent reply which some people might find a bit intimidating. Also, there could be a cultural exchange element to this, we could upload photographs to show our e-pals what Edinburgh/Scotland’s like to live in etc.

Just an idea, maybe you know somewhere near your home in Morocco that you could get in touch with? Or maybe EK has contacts with a school/university in the gulf?

Hi Mourad, I really like ArabicPod.net - each lesson doesn’t try to teach you too much in one go and everything’s explained very well. I’m sure they’ll be useful also, I’ve just downloaded a lesson concerning ‘hairuts’, since every time I’ve tried to explain what I want done to my hair in the Middle East it’s turned out to be an absolute disaster!

I like this slideshow, it is a good way to follow up on our classwork today. During the UK’s cultural celebrations of ‘Africa ‘05′ I went to a talk about coins & the spread of Islam across the Sahara. So I like the images of coins a whole lot. Next time I’m at the British museum I can take another look & read them this time. Yay!

It depends what you are referring to. أنه with a kasra below the hamza (i.e. Innahu) refers to a masculine noun.

I agree marc - perhaps a good thing to do, if you want to be ambitious with what you’re writing, would be to write what you’re saying in english afterwards, and if the person who replies sees that you’re wrong then they could correct you or something

The nearest meaning to the three words is interesting. However,
مثير is close to (exciting)
ممتع is fun
شيق is entertaining.
